Nuri Sahin returns to BVB: "I am happy to be home again"

[11.01.] Borussia Dortmund have signed Nuri Sahin from Spanish champions Real Madrid on a loan-deal. The 24-year-old midfielder, a product of BVB´s youth academy, left the club after the title-winning season of the 2011 to join the Spanish giants. Sahin rejoins BVB from FC Liverpool where he spent the first half of the season on loan.

"We already emphasised during our 2011 title celebrations that Nuri Sahin will always be a special player for Borussia Dortmund and that the door would always be open to him if he ever felt the desire to play for us again. Nuri approached us with this wish in the last few days and we have made it become reality. We are very happy to be able to welcome another player of his quality and character to our squad," said BVB chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke.

Sahin, who made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 16 years and 335 days and is still their youngest player ever to play in Germany´s top flight, is looking forward to his new challenge at his old club. "I am happy to be home again. My contact with the management, the players and the coaching staff of BVB has never broken down over the last one and a half years. I hope to be able to help the team as quickly as possible."

Michael Zorc, Borussia Dortmund´s sporting director, who sealed the deal at BVB´s training camp in La Manga (Spain) in the last couple of days, said: "We know Nuri´s true potential. His quality of play will do our squad good."
