German Football Association Foreign Initiative:
Borussia Dortmund And Energie Cottbus To Asia

[20.11.] The German Football Association (DFL) has continued getting their foreign marketing strategy into action. Later this year, as a result of the DFL´s initiative, two Bundesliga clubs will play in Asia. On 19 December, Borussia Dortmund will meet the Indonesia National Team in Jakarta.

FC Energie Cottbus will play against the Chinese National Team on 18 December and the Chinese Olympic Team on 20 December. The matches will be played in Guangzhou and Foshan respectively. In cooperation with TV partners, sponsors and other interested parties, there will be side activities such as youth training sessions in both China and Indonesia.

"Asia is already an important market for us. Therefore, we aim to remain active there. In international TV markets, the Bundesliga is in competition with the Spanish Primera Division and Italy´s Serie A. Our television presence in 169 countries is on par with our competition. Despite this, we have to work harder to secure more broadcast time and get a piece of the ever-expanding markets in Asia", said Jörg Daubitzer, the DFL´s Director of Rights and Licensing. All matches will be broadcast by the local television partners in China and Indonesia live on Free-TV.

Borussia Dortmund has already played a friendly match in Poland at Legia Warsaw as part of the DFL´s Foreign Initiative. That match finished in a 2-2 draw.
