Johannes Vorspohl reporting

Borussia Dortmund impressed the 72.100 fans at the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK with some fine attacking football and took an early two-goal lead through Grosskreutz (8 mins.) and Barrios (13). Nuremberg struggled to cope with the pace of the game, and Zidan put BVB 3-0 up in the 36th minute before Hummels sealed the game with a header in the 62nd minute. A great performance by Borussia and a fully deserved win.

Scenario:
BVB, unbeaten for seven games, played against a side that pulled off a shock win over VfL Wolfsburg in their last away match. Overall, however, the Franconian side only earned five of their 12 points away on their travels this season. BVB won 11 of a possible 21 points at their home ground - only five teams had a better home record than the Black īnī Yellows.

Again in the starting line-up: Kevin Grosskreutz.
Personnel matters:
Tinga and Valdez returned from their injuries and replaced Stiepermann and Hornschuh in the squad. But the two South Americans only returned to the bench as BVB coach Jürgen Klopp saw no reason to change a team that performed so well last Saturday in Hoffenheim. BVB were still without Kehl, Hajnal, Dede, Rangelov, Le Tallec and Öztekin. Nuremberg had to do without the suspended goalkeeper Schäfer as well as without Frantz, Eigler and Risse.

Tactics:
Due to a lack of alternatives as well as a good run of results recently (six games, 12 points), Borussia stuck to their 4-2-3-1 formation. The "Club" played in attack with a 4-4-2 diamond formation, in defence Choupo-Moting moved from his position behind the strikers to play in the holding role alongside Nordtveit.

Scored his first Bundesliga goal for BVB: Kevin Grosskreutz.
Game & Analysis:
In was an entertaining game for the fans on a grey and wet autumn day. The visitors from Nuremberg made a positive start and pressed forward. In the sixth minute the BVB fans held their breath when Choupo-Moting picked up a loose ball in the area, but his shot was blocked by a Dortmund defender.

BVB also began in a confident mood, pressed early and created a series of promising openings with quick combinations. And their hard work paid off early: Bender set up Grosskreutz with a fine outside-of-the-foot-cross and the BVB youngster coolly slotted the ball past Nuremberg keeper Stephan - 1-0 for BVB (8). It was the first Bundesliga goal for Grosskreutz who was celebrated by the fans with chants.

Nuremberg tried to keep up with the pace of the game, but defensively they were simply unable to compete with Borussia. Two minutes after taking the lead, BVB had a good chance to increase the lead, but Kubaīs shot from the edge of the area didnīt really cause Stephan any problems. BVB now launched attack after attack. Owomoyela crossed from the right to Barrios in the centre, who first was denied by Stephan, but the goalkeeperīs save then somehow bounced off the leg of the BVB striker into the net - 2-0 for BVB after 13 minutes. It was Barriosī sixth goal of the season - and also the sixth goal Nuremberg conceded in the opening 15 minutes this season - a league record!

After their perfect start to the match, BVB slowed the tempo a bit. But remained in control of the game and were always looking to create chances. Nuremberg tried to fight their way back into the game, but didnīt really create anything of note. Their best chance came from Boakye whose scissors kick went a yard wide (32).

Put in another impressive performance: Marcel Schmelzer.
BVB, on the other hand, continued to ask questions of the visitorīs defence. Barrios danced past a couple of defenders in the area before releasing a shot. It was saved by Stephan, but Zidan was on hand to tap the rebound across the line while falling to increase the lead to 3-0 (36). And after a cross from Barrios, Kuba almost added a fourth in the 43rd minute.

The second half started in much the same vain. In the 48th minute Hummels went just wide with a header from a Zidan corner. BVB continued to press forward, hemming Nuremberg into their own half. In the 52nd minute Zidan had a good chance to score, but his header was cleared off the line by Pinola. Six minutes later Barrios found himself alone in front of goal, but was denied by the Nuremberg keeper. At this stage of the match BVB only had themselves to blame for wasting so many chances.

Hummels, who moved into the position in front of the defence after Santana came in for Bender, sealed the win in the 62nd minute. Stephan was only able to parry a fierce shot by Owomoyela into the path of the German U21 international who headed the ball over the Nuremberg keeper into the net. You almost felt sorry for Stephan, the stand-in for first-choice goalkeeper Schäfer. Despite conceding four goals, he was Nurembergīs best player and saved them from a bigger defeat. For example in the 73rd minute when he made a great save from a Zidan shot. The BVB fans chanted, "Just one more goal..."

In the last 15 minutes, after an at times excellent performance, the Black īnī Yellows finally put the foot off the pedal, but Nuremberg were still not able or willing to create anything offensively. In the end it was a well-deserved 4-0 win for BVB.

Prospects:
There are two games remaining for BVB this year. Next Sunday (13 December, KO 1730 CET) Jürgen Kloppīs side play at VfL Wolfsburg. The last home game of the year takes place on 19 December (Saturday, KO 1530 CET). On the day of Borussia Dortmundīs 100th anniversary, SC Freiburg are coming to the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK.
