Premiere for Borussia Dortmund's Evonik Soccer School: For the first time ever, five BVB trainers made their way to Wiltz in Luxembourg from the 5. to the 9. September in order to deliver a series of intensive training sessions to 76 children there.

The kids and the training staff from Dortmund found they had excellent training facilities at their disposal at F.C. Waltz 71, who currently play in Luxembourg's second division. Two turf pitches as well as an astroturf pitch of the newest kind were available to the up-and-coming football enthusiasts for the five day holiday camp.

During goalkeeper training, the young shot-stoppers learned to save like Roman Bürki.

Every day, the 7 to 15 year olds pursued footballs, ran through coordination ladders, jumped over hurdles and parried away, in true Roman Bürki style, shots on goal, before they could find their way into the net. Alongside playing and having fun, much was learned. The BVB coaches focussed on a new key technical skill on a daily basis, while simultaneously working on the social competencies of the young players with the help of 'confidence-games' and a workshop which looked at nutrition.

Alongside technical training, football oriented coordination training featured heavily as part of the programme.

The weather also played its part in delivering a more than successful camp. The thermometer indicated 30 degrees or above daily, and as such, the groundsman indulged the hard-training girls and boys now and again with a little cool-down by way of the irrigation system, which all of a sudden would shoot water out from underneath the floor during practice exercises and games.

Plenty of fun for the young players in Luxembourg!
