Hans-Joachim Watzke's speech started by looking back. The CEO reminisced: "a year ago all of us were disappointed here." But even right after losing the final in 2016 Watzke said: "it is part of the BVB DNA that we always come back again. We will win titles again."

Then it happened on the 27. May, 2017: Borussia Dortmund won the DFB Cup for the fourth time through a well-deserved and hard fought 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Watzke added: "we would like to congratulate the team, the Head Coach and the coaching staff for this victory. It has been five years since we last won our last title. Three were still in the team from back then: Schmelle, Lukasz Piszczek and Shinji." In addition Weidenfeller and Bender were on the bench.

The BVB boss aimed very heart-felt words at Marco Reus, who has been "performing at the highest level" in the Black Yellow jersey since 2012, "but has never won a title." Watzke: "you got over that today, this is also your title. This must be a very special day for you as a real born and bred Dortmund lad." And Marc Bartra was also mentioned in a special way: "no one here in this room has deserved it more than you. And it is all the better that you have won your first Cup with BVB."

Then Watzke ordered the Cup heros "to enjoy themselves" - and he also made the promise at the same time, that it "won't be another five years before the next title..."
