Just as the new season is about to kick off, Borussia Dortmund have broken the 10 million barrier on Facebook. Around the world, BVB are becoming an ever bigger player on the social network.

Borussia Dortmund first joined the platform in June 2010 and have rapidly grown in stature on the global social media market. David Görges, head of New Media/CRM at BVB confirmed: “The number of international Facebook fans has now well overtaken the number of followers in Germany”. The enormous growth figures can be attributed to recent success on the pitch. The impressive performance in the Champions League last season and the appearance in the German cup final in Berlin were driving factors.

Reflecting their performances on the pitch, Borussia Dortmund are a leading force on Facebook as well, currently occupying 13th place in the list of football clubs on Facebook, just ahead of Fenerbahce and Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid and hot on the heels of Paris St. Germain, Galatasaray and Juventus.

This illustrious company and the speedy growth mean Borussia Dortmund have to remain on the ball: BVB will continue its full commitment to multi-lingual postings for its international fans and actively promote its close connection to its fans through lots of exclusive insights into life at the club and a regular exchange with users.
