Hamadi Al Ghaddioui may have scored his 17th goal of the season to salvage Borussia Dortmund's U23s a point in the Regional League West on Saturday, but there was little satisfaction in the Black and Yellow camp in the aftermath of the 1-1 draw at home to Rot-Weiß Ahlen.

"It was not a good performance from us," confessed coach Daniel Farke, whose charges did not manage to reproduce the level of performance they showed in Wednesday's goalless draw in Oberhausen at any point on Matchday 30. The visitors, meanwhile, delivered a committed display that caused the Black and Yellows a number of problems and showed they still very much believe in their chances of beating the drop.

Ahlen even took the lead in the 21sth minute when Rene Lindner headed home a Rouven Meschede cross from close range and, although Hamadi Al Ghaddioui drew BVB level ten minutes later after visiting goalkeeper Sascha Kirschstein had initially made an outstanding save to thwart Till Schumacher, the hosts almost fell behind again when shot-stopper Dominik Reimann gave away a penalty on 37 minutes. Luckily for him, Laurenz Wassinger blazed it over the bar.

Borussia were particularly disappointing in that spell before the interval and, despite improving after the restart and carving out several good chances, a draw was ultimately a fair result.

BVB II: Reimann - Camoglu, Zimmermann (Sauerland, 58), Mainka, Schumacher (Bockhorn, 58) - Fritz - Wassey, Eberwein, Hober (Hanke, 79), Arweiler - Al Ghaddioui
Goals: 0-1 Lindner (21), 1-1 Al Ghaddioui (31)
