The Borussia Dortmund academy has been bolstered by the signing of two new players: Giovanni Reyna (16) is joining the Black & Yellow U19s from New York City FC, while Bradley Fink (16) is joining the U17s from FC Luzern. Both players are moving to BVB on free transfers.

‘‘Giovanni Reyna is the son of former Bundesliga player Claudio Reyna. He plays in central midfield and is without doubt a huge talent. Bradley Fink, at 1.89m tall, is a classic centre-forward. He has fantastic ability and recently scored 40 goals in just 21 games for Luzern’s U16s. Numerous big clubs in Europe wanted to sign these two players. We’re delighted that they’ve opted for Borussia Dortmund. Everyone at BVB is convinced that these two transfers show great promise,’’ states Borussia Dortmund’s Academy Director Lars Ricken.

Reyna and Fink will join teammates who already have a hunger for success. The BVB academy has celebrated several notable triumphs over the past few years: the Black & Yellow U19s are the reigning German champions, while the U17s were unlucky to lose the final of the German Championship in what was their only defeat of the entire 2018/19 season.

Given that the players in question are still classed as minors, special approval on the part of the global governing body FIFA is required for the completion of both transfers. All parties expect a decision in this regard in the near future.
