Title-holders Borussia Dortmund will be up against SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the first round of the 2021/22 DFB-Pokal. The match will be played between 6 and 9 August.

The former U21 international and now ARD football pundit Thomas Broich was responsible for drawing the 32 first-round pairings in Cologne in Sunday.

Wiesbaden finished last season in sixth spot in the third tier. Following the promotion of the BVB U23 squad, SVWW will go up against the Black & Yellows three times this season: they will face the first team in the cup at the start of August, before taking on the reserves in the league on Matchdays 9 and 28 respectively.

There has previously only been one competitive meeting between the clubs at first-team level, with BVB winning 1-0 after extra-time in the second round of the cup in the 2000/01 season.

The exact scheduling of the first-round fixtures will be announced by the DFB 10-12 days after the draw at the earliest. (cr)
