Borussia Dortmund's newly crowned Landesliga champions cruised to a 6-0 (3-0) victory over SF Sümmern on Matchday 22. Four goals at the Rote Erde stadium came from corners.

One week after wrapping up the Landesliga title, the Black & Yellows are still on course for another undefeated season. Against twelfth-placed Sümmern, however, a number of absences due to illness forced coach Thomas Sulewski to improvise in midfield. All-rounder Marie Grothe took up the number-six position, Danelle Tan played alongside Mia Macarena Bedarf in the centre and Merle Greulich switched to the left side of attack.

Grothe demonstrated her excellent goalscoring instincts as early as the eighth minute. After a corner, she was in the right place and headed in for an early lead. Anyone who thought that the BVB women would shift down a gear after securing the title was mistaken. Sümmern goalkeeper Vivien Lampe was under constant bombardment and had to dig the ball out of the back of the net again in the 22nd minute after Tan scored from a corner to make it 2-0.

The scoreline would have been much higher by half-time if the team had made the most of their chances. However, another dead-ball situation led to the third goal of the day, as Grothe scored from the penalty spot in the final minute of the first half.

After the break, it took less than a minute for Greulich to slot home a perfectly placed pass from Tan to make it 4-0 (46). However, Borussia began to show a lack of consistency, and Sandra Schröer was required to prevent Angelina Weber from pulling one back in the 62nd minute before another set-piece made it 5-0. Tan curled a corner to Grothe, who completed her hat-trick in the 76th minute - she has now scored eleven goals in the last five league games.

"We played with more passion than last week and can be very satisfied with our performance, even if I would have liked a few more goals from the game," said Sulewski. The final goal to make it 6-0 was scored by substitute Mandy Reinhardt after Sümmern failed to clear their lines from a corner (88).

Next Wednesday, 1 May, the BVB women will have their next chance to win silverware, when they face SpVg Berghofen in the final of the Kreispokal at Sportplatz Schiffhorst (kick-off 15:30 CET).

BVB women: Schröer – Geldschläger, Haslsteiner, Glänzer, Klemann (54, Kuhl) – Grothe – Tayeh, Tan (82, Duranville), Bedarf (62, Herper), Greulich – Naceva (62, Reinhardt)

Goals: 1-0 Grothe (8), 2-0 Tan (22), 3-0 Grothe (45/penalty), 4-0 Greulich (46), 5-0 Grothe (76), 6-0 Reinhardt (88)
