The Borussia Dortmund women's handball team will be without key performer Dana Bleckmann for months. The 22-year-old tore her cruciate ligament during a training session last week.

Bleckmann received the bitter diagnosis of a torn cruciate ligament for the first time in September 2021. The backcourt player, who came through the BVB youth academy, will therefore be unavailable to the Black & Yellows for a prolonged period.

Head of department Rupert Thiele said: "We're shocked and very sad. The whole team feels for Dana. She was in absolutely top condition at the end of last season and ready for even more. Now she has been dealt a setback again. We'll do everything we can to be able to celebrate great victories with Dana on the court again soon. We're behind her and wish her a good recovery!"
