On Saturday BVB coach Jürgen Klopp was hit by yet another injury concern. During warm-up, just minutes before the game in Cologne, Erik Durm suffered a thigh injury and had to be replaced by Marco Reus who became the third player on Saturday to make his comeback from injury.

Durm, who had returned from international duty with Germany with a minor stomach bug, was rested on Thursday but came through Friday’s training without a problem. “Out of nowhere he felt a tightness in his thigh,” said BVB coach Jürgen Klopp. Durm went straight back to the dressing room for treatment . “He tried again but then signalled that he could not play and we were forced to replace him,” said Klopp.

Update: Club doctor Dr Markus Braun having conducted an ultrasound scan on Erik Durm’s injured leg on Sunday morning could find nothing of concern. It is, then, still possible that he will be available for selection on Wednesday in Istanbul.
