A total of 11 BVB players were in action for their countries on the final matchday of the current international period. The German national team – including five Black & Yellows – managed to defeat World Cup runners-up France by a 2-1 scoreline at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Youssoufa Moukoko bagged a brace for the U21s.

On Tuesday morning, Salih Özcan and Türkiye were in friendly action against the Japan national team. Özcan made the starting line-up in the Belgian city of Genk but could not prevent the 4-2 defeat. The midfielder was substituted off after 45 minutes with the score at 3-1.

Youssoufa Moukoko fired the Germany U21 national team to victory in their first EURO qualifying match against Kosovo. Moukoko was in action for the full 90 minutes and bagged a brace in the space of four minutes (74/78) to put the DFB into the lead. Former BVB player Colin Kleine-Bekel then completed the scoring in a 3-0 victory in Pristina (89).

The Austrian national team – including BVB player Marcel Sabitzer – took a huge step towards qualification for the EURO finals in Germany on Tuesday evening. Sabitzer shone with an assist in the 3-1 victory over Sweden in Solna and set up Marko Arnautovic (Inter Milan) to make it 2-0. The Dortmund man played the full 90 minutes. Austria cemented their hold on second place in Group F thanks to the result and extended their lead over challengers Sweden to seven points.

Julian Ryerson was an unused substitute as the Norway national team claimed a 2-1 triumph over Georgia in Oslo. Norway remain in third place in EURO Qualifying Group H thanks to the win.

There was a successful result for the Germany national team at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Following some poor performances recently, interim coach Rudi Völler's team came out on top to beat World Cup runners-up France 2-1 in a friendly. Niklas Süle and Emre Can were involved for the full 90 minutes. Julian Brandt came off the bench after 64 minutes. Nico Schlotterbeck and Felix Nmecha did not see any action.

In other friendlies elsewhere, BVB players Sebastien Haller (Ivory Coast) and Ramy Bensebaini (Algeria) were in action. Haller was in the starting XI for Côte d'Ivoire against Mali, but the match had to be called off during the first period due to a strong storm. Bensebaini and Algeria were in action in Senegal and ran out 1-0 victors in a friendly. The defender played the full 90 minutes at the heart of defence and helped his team-mates to keep a clean sheet.
