Borussia Dortmund has expanded its eFootball squad for the 23/24 season. In addition to an additional content creator, the eFootball team and the coaching staff for the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) have also been expanded.

Luisa Bergmann will provide exciting entertainment as an additional content creator alongside Erné Embeli. The 28-year-old is entering his fourth year at BVB. "I am proud to continue being here. I came to BVB to stay and I am 100 percent committed to our journey together," says Embeli, commenting on his decision to re-sign.

He will be supported by Luisa going forward. The former BVB women's player is already a familiar face in the Black & Yellow family. She will now act as a content creator in addition to her current role as team manager of the 2nd women's team and the newly founded U17 girls' team. In addition to livestreams on Twitch, she will be involved in creating video formats and content days. Bergmann is looking forward to the task ahead: "I am very grateful for the trust placed in me! The fans can look forward to some cool Black & Yellow content. We have a lot planned."

An exciting eFootball set-up

Borussia Dortmund has extended the contract of Dennis Dennis Malcherczyk. The eFootballer has been with the team since the start of the project and is now entering his fourth year with BVB.

From Twitch host to eFootballer: Lucas Geerken will be part of Borussia Dortmund's eFootball squad from season 23/24.

Alihan Kösecik joins the Borussia Dortmund eFootball team for the new EAFC season. Kösecik is the reigning Dortmund eFootball city champion.

Bradley Destoop moves to BVB from Club Bruges and is the second new signing in the team, along with Roee Feldman. Feldman was born in Tel Aviv (Israel) and is now moving to Dortmund to play for BVB.

Expansion of the coaching team

Borussia Dortmund's eFootball coaching team has been strengthened for the first time in the VBL. Alexander Steinmetz will act as an assistant to coach Stefan Gajduk moving forward.

Steinmetz describes himself as a "lifelong BVB fan" and explains: "It is a great honour for me to become part of the eFootball project. I will use my many years of experience to help the players in the best possible way together with Stefan."

Participation in the VBL

"We have followed the discussion about the inclusion of the VBL in the DFL's licensing regulations in a very calm and constructive manner, as we have laid a solid foundation in recent years in securing the approval and interest of our supporters," said Alexander Mühl, director of marketing and digitalisation at BVB.

Participation in the Virtual Bundesliga from the 2023/24 season is thus the next logical step for Borussia Dortmund following the successful development work of recent years. BVB's focus in the area of eFootball will continue to be on entertainment and community interaction. Future participation in competitive matches is a complementary pillar to this approach.
