Four Borussians were on international duty on Friday evening. Donyell Malen scored for the Netherlands in the 86th minute of a convincing 4-0 victory against Scotland. Meanwhile, Germany's U21s stumbled for the first time in their qualifying campaign against Kosovo.

A few days before the clash against their neighbours Germany, the Netherlands celebrated a home victory against Germany's European Championship group opponents Scotland. The Scots were able to hold their own for extended periods, but shortly before the end, the "Elftal" added gloss to the scoreline and ran out clear winners against Germany's Euro qualifying opponents. Donyell Malen, who came on in the 77th minute for Leipzig's Xavi Simons, played a big part in the victory. Nine minutes after he came on, the Dortmund attacker managed to dribble through the penalty area after being found by midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, before firing into the bottom corner from close range in the 86th minute to give the "Oranje" a 4-0 win at the final whistle.

Youssoufa Moukoko and the Germany U21s suffered their first shock on the way to the 2025 European Championships, as DFB coach Antonio Di Salvo's team drew 0-0 against Kosovo. After four victories to kick off their qualifying campaign, Germany have now lost the lead in qualifying group D to Poland. Goal machine Moukoko was on the field until the 71st minute, when he was replaced by centre forward Nicolò Tresoldi.

England's U21s won their European Championship qualifier in Group F against Azerbaijan, securing a clear 5-1 victory. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens came on in the 74th minute for attacker Jaden Philogene.

In Algeria's friendly against Bolivia, centre-back Ramy Bensebaini was in the starting line-up, but had to leave the pitch in the 19th minute due to injury. "Les Fennecs" ultimately secured a narrow 3-2 win.

The night was less successful for Salih Özcan and Turkey, who lost 1-0 against Hungary. Özcan remained on the bench for the entire match. Julian Ryerson was not in the squad in the Norwegian national team's 2-1 defeat against Czechia.

The next international matches involving BVB players will be on Saturday evening, as the Germany senior squad including Niclas Füllkrug take on France (kick-off: 21:00 CET). Marcel Sabitzer will play a friendly match with Austria against Slovakia (kick-off: 18:00 CET).
