On Wednesday, it was Hans-Joachim Watzke’s turn to face the press in La Manga. Here's what the Borussia Dortmund chairman had to say at the daily press conference.

Hans-Joachim Watzke on the friendly against Sion:

You could see that we have just started our preparation; there was still some room for improvement. But I’ve already seen some promising signs.

…the current situation:

All of the knowledge I gained during the winter break I had already had before the break. There’s no blueprint for the situation we are in at the moment. I still think that Jürgen Klopp is an excellent coach. It would be strange to say otherwise after the last six or seven years. I’m still 100 percent convinced that he’s the right man. If you go from one success to another for six years, then it may happen that things go in a different direction for a while.

…the analysis for the first half of the season:

A close analysis doesn’t necessarily mean that heads will roll. But with the squad available, we should find ourselves in a better position.  We are still not going to reveal the depth of our analysis to the public.

…the goals for the second half of the season:

Our goal is to avoid relegation, and in such a way that we can later chalk it up as an accomplishment.

…further signings during the winter break:

“Very unlikely, but not impossible.”

..a planned tour of Asia:

“The planned tour of Asia will definitively take place this summer. It would be odd to open a representative office there and then don’t go there and play football.
