The opening fixture of the 2014/15 Bundesliga season against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday (kick off 1830CET) is a complete sell-out. 80,667 tickets have been sold of which 6,500 have been allocated to Leverkusen.

55,000 of the 80.667 are season ticket holders. BVB decided to limit the sale of season tickets at that figure “so that fans that travel from distance and thus are not able to get to every game can still have the chance to get individual match tickets,” said Carsten Cramer. Tens of thousands more fans are on the waiting list for season tickets.

The Bundesliga as a whole has sold some 470,000 season tickets. BVB top the table in sales ahead of Schalke 04 (43,090) and Bayern Munich (38,000) with those clubs also capping the number of season tickets sold. (br)
