Goal spree: Never before have there been more goals in a Europa Cup game with Borussia Dortmund. On 29. September 1992 there was the same result (7-2) in the match against Floriana La Valetta. BVB’s highest victory was against the Maltese club on 10. October 1965 – 8-0.

International: This is the sixth year in a row in which BVB are playing in the international competition. Such a run has only been achieved once before between 1992 and 1997.

Play-off record: Borussia Dortmund took part in the qualifying round for the group stages for the sixth time. They have progressed four times and been knocked out twice. In 1999 and 2001 BVB had victories against FK Teplice (1-0, 1-0) and Shakhtar Donetsk (2-0, 3-1) respectively. However they were knocked out by Club Brugge in 2003 after a 2-1 defeat at home and a 4-2 defeat in a penalty shootout. This was repeated in 2008 when BVB were knocked out by Udinese Calcio (2-0 and 4-3 in the penalty shootout). Dortmund got through the play offs to the UEFA Europa League in 2010 with 4-0 and 1-0 victories against Qarabagh Agdam and this year with 4-3 and 7-2 victories against Odds BK.

Positive scoresheet: BVB won against Lyn Oslo in 1963 in the European Champion Clubs’ Cup (4-2 and 3-1). In the 1999 UEFA Champions League they drew 2-2 at Rosenborg Trondheim and lost 3-0 at home. Now they have two victories against Odds BK – 4-3 and 7-2.
