Thomas Tuchel did not mince his words following BVB's 2-1 victory over FC Krasnodar in the UEFA Europa League, declaring that he was not at all satisfied with his team's performance in the first 45 minutes.

Tuchel's analysis of the match: "We needed some time tonight to find our way into the match. At the start I felt we were a bit sloppy in terms of the accuracy of some of our passing. There was room for improvement in terms of our precision and body language. Quite apart from that, we didn't find space well or make good use of it in order to really put Krasnodar's back line under pressure. In all aspects of the match we had a lot of difficulties. In part, that is understandable as we were facing a high-quality opponent. In addition, we were operating within a new set-up, in which not all of the spaces were as quickly or fluently occupied as they should have been against such a defensive-minded opponent. Then we also had a few coordination problems in our defensive play today, which led to us falling behind. Conceding that first goal made the task tonight all the more difficult. We were quite good in the second period, very dominant, and had a lot of gilt-edged chances."

Tuchel on a possible lack of motivation among his starting eleven: "Well we might have been missing a certain swiftness of action tonight, and our level of alertness in challenges for the ball might not have been quite optimal, but that is under no circumstances down to the fact that we were playing on a Thursday night rather than in the Champions League. We have a real desire to play in this competition. We know that it is a long competition and that there are still stages and matches to come which will demand everything from us. But any such accusations would be unfair. Krasnodar were the strong opponents we expected. We shouldn't forget that Krasnodar recently won 4-0 against Dynamo Moscow after having won 2-0 in St. Petersburg. This is a team with real quality."

Tuchel on Joo-Ho Park: "It wasn't easy for him - a new team, new surroundings, new team-mates and then starting the match in that midfield position. It was quite some task that we gave him tonight. He took a little bit of time to find his feet in the match. Then it became clear that we would replace 'Schmelle' with Kagawa and that we wanted to have Joo-Ho operating down the flank on the left of defence. I know that I can 100% count on him. He really soldiered on physically tonight. Towards the end he had some cramp and yet he still gave it everything as a full-back to get into the penalty area in order to score a goal. That is testament to his great character and the attitude that he has. It's fun here, he's been warmly welcomed into the squad and is doing everything to ensure he integrates quickly. He has set up an extremely important goal and later scored one of his own - that will serve to speed up his integration."

Tuchel on Adnan Januzaj: "At the start, he put in a good performance on the wing. He needs these games in order to get to know how we play. He has also been quick to make friends in the team. Everyone is giving him the support he needs so that he can give his best for us. He is a player who is very confident on the ball, who enjoys going into one-on-ones, who has a good awareness of what's around him and who is effective in front of goal. Later on tonight we put him through the middle, then put him back on the wing right at the end. He played with great commitment and fluency. He's on the right track." (fu)
