"The 2-1 scoreline reflects the balance of play very well," said Mats Hummels following the 2-1 victory over FC Krasnodar, before adding: "In terms of our play, we have definitely put in considerably better performances than that already this season."

A successful start then?
Of course. We certainly didn't want to start the group stages by falling behind the other teams in our group. And given that PAOK and Gabala drew tonight, it was certainly a perfect start for us - in terms of points. In terms of our play, however, we have definitely put in considerably better performances than that this season.

The equaliser came in stoppage time in the first half; the winner came in stoppage time in the second - should it have been quite such a close call or should you have won it a little bit earlier?
I don't think we should have really won it earlier on. We didn't have a sufficient number of chances and weren't dominant enough for the match to finish with a 3-0 scoreline, etc. The 2-1 scoreline reflects the balance of play very well. Of course, it is completely fair that we won the match as we had more chances and more of the game - but despite that Krasnodar always remained quietly dangerous. At the very least, each of their attacks developed into a situation which could have led to a chance on goal, because we were simply too broadly-positioned, too open and occasionally Papa and I had a two-on-two or even in some cases a one-on-one. That is obviously very challenging to defend against. But that is the task that we have to carry out when we have matches like this, where the team's counter-pressing doesn't work out so well.

Matthias Ginter got on the scoresheet again tonight and set up a goal too. He seems to be developing into a lethal goalscorer...
Offensively, he's been brilliant in recent weeks. And that has really helped us out because Piszczek was missing on the right. Now he's fit for action again, which means that we have two really excellent players on the right side - and that is something that we'll definitely need this season.

Did your recent results enable you to snatch a last-gasp winner tonight? If you believe right up until the final whistle that you can still win the game...
I think you could be right. It's a feat that Bayern often manage to pull off. They know that they can still win the game, they know that they are still in with a chance. And that is even more the case when a team has had good results in recent games. Last November we probably wouldn't have made it 2-1, for example.
