After the game in Munich, Thomas Tuchel declared in a sky interview that his team "made it too easy" for their opponents for the first three goals. After that, the match was pretty much decided. "We have to dust ourselves off and bounce back, which is urgently needed,” demanded the Manager.

Mr Tuchel, the first 20 minutes were actually going pretty well…

We were defending very well, keeping hold of the ball nicely and playing with precision and a good rhythm. But even in the first 20 minutes, our play in the final third didn't come to anything, compared to what Bayern had afterwards with the first goal-scoring opportunities that they took.

The first goal you conceded, as well as when you went 3-1 down, came from long balls from Bayern. What wasn't working?

We weren’t very alert at all. The pass that made it 3-1 was one of the most abject balls that you’ll see. Over ten of our own players away from a 40 metre volley. We are not closing down the opposition quickly enough. Even when a good ball has been played through, this can’t happen. We got a “cheap” penalty given against us after a counterattack and there were two goals from long balls. We made it too easy for Bayern and as a result the result of the match was already decided.

"Time for tenacity once more“

What do you have to do now?

We need to get back to our ferocity in the tackle and back to the nitty gritty of our defensive organisation, such as when to release the ball and when to hold onto it. We must improve our concentration in defence and discipline in our positioning. We need to sustain this throughout the entire game. We have to dust ourselves off and bounce back, which is urgently needed.
