On Friday evening, Hamburger SV and Borussia Dortmund will kick off the 13th match day of the Bundesliga. “The match is going ahead, no question about it” said BVB Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke.

On Wednesday night the DFB, DFL and Interior Ministry agreed that the holding of the weekend matches won’t be called into question. “Match day will go ahead as usual,” affirmed Dr Reinhard Rauball, President of the League Association and Borussia Dortmund. “Every match brings together thousands of people who share their enthusiasm, joy and passion for football. That’s our contribution for a peaceful world, which starts with Friday night’s home match against Borussia Dortmund,” states the HSV website.

These days, both clubs are working ever closer together in security matters. HSV has already announced plans to increase security measures. “We can only agree with HSV – BVB works in close exchange with the club, the police and the authorities,” stated Borussia Dortmund.

“We have a great deal of trust in the security agencies of federal and state governments. On the one hand, we don’t want to bow to terror. But on the other hand, protection of human life must be the top priority,” said League President Dr. Reinhard Rauball. (br)
