Thomas Tuchel was enthusiastic in the wake of the 4-1 victory over VfB Stuttgart, lavishing praise on Gonzalo Castro in particular: "Gonzalo put in an outstanding performance," the BVB coach said to sky.

Sven Bender: "Normally I am a defensive midfielder but it all worked out well at the centre of defence today. We had a few problems after going 2-0 up. Stuttgart switched the play forward extremely quickly. We had to be on our toes for the whole 90 minutes. Three defeats in a row would have been a tough one to swallow, so it's good we won..."

Gonzalo Castro: "It was a good performance by us. I am delighted that we showed such fighting spirit to win a difficult match. We played too slowly after we took a 2-0 lead. In the second half we were clearly the dominant force in the match. I'm now paying back the trust that the coach shows in me. The goal was easier than the assist with the flick..."

Thomas Tuchel: "It took us quite a while today. It was really hard work out there. We weren't particularly good in the first half. We didn't manage to play at the required tempo and to occupy positions the way we know we can. We were not always able to stop VfB's counter-attacks in their tracks. The second half was very, very good. We didn't give away any more shots. We could have ultimately won by a larger margin of victory. Gonzalo put in an outstanding performance today."

Jürgen Kramny: "We wanted to attack while remaining compact. We did not foresee that early goal. After going 2-0 now, we started to show a reaction. In the second period we wanted to prevent the third goal, but then it came. And with the quality Dortmund have, once you are that far behind you won't get back into the game. I tried to give the team a certain level of stability. For phases of the match it worked well, but ultimately we conceded four goals again today. That's something we need to work on."

Christian Gentner: "Conceding that early goal was a real setback for us. The way in which we reacted after this setback shows that the team's desire and morale are still very much intact. Conceding the third goal from an own goal was unlucky. At that point it was clear we would not be able to turn the game around. We made too many mistakes, and this proves very costly when you face a team with Dortmund's quality." (fu)
