Thomas Tuchel appeared much more satisfied with the performance in the second half than in the first: "The early goal did not give us the security that we would have liked."

Thomas Tuchel: "We were well aware of VfB's offensive strength. Anyone familiar with Stuttgart knows that this team can play aggressive attacking football. We knew about the individual quality of VfB and we knew that every metre would count. I felt that we were extremely successful in the second period of the match. We didn't give away any more shots, kept our positions and stopped counter-attacks at an early stage. That was the key for a very good second half with lots of chances on goal. The early goal did not give us the security that we would have liked. At that point we were found wanting in terms of our speed of action, positional play and discipline. We could really see that VfB have the ability to cause trouble to any team in the league. That's why I am even more impressed with our second-half performance. It was a very important victory." (br)
