BVB have only had more points at the same stage of the season twice before: in the 1994/95 season it was 46, and in the title winning season of 2010/11 they had 47 points. With 44 points after 19 matches, BVB have the highest points tally of a team in second place in Bundesliga history.

Fortress: The 2-0 victory over FC Ingolstadt was the twelfth victory in BVB’s last 13 home matches. Their last defeat was in April 2015 against FC Bayern, and the last time they dropped points was in September 2015 in their 2-2 stalemate against Darmstadt.

Goals galore: In their 13th home match in a row BVB scored at least two goals.

Top marksman: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had more goal scoring opportunities (six) than the entire Ingolstadt team put together (five). The Gabonese scored for the tenth home match in a row, which had only previously been achieved by Gerd Müller (twice), Jupp Heynckes and Thomas Christiansen. Gerd Müller in the 1976/77 season was the last player to score 20 goals in 19 matches. A BVB player has never before achieved such a milestone.

Debut: Christian Pulisic celebrated his Bundesliga debut and became the youngest player to do so this season at 17 years, fourth months and two days old.

Starting line-up: Adrian Ramos made the starting line-up for the Bundesliga match for the first time since December 2014, and Erik Durm for the first time since DFB Pokal cup final in 2015.

Meagre: 5 shots on goal was enough for BVB’s 2-0 victory, the fewest amount of efforts on goal in any of their home matches this season.

Solid in the tackle: Mats Hummels won 19 of his 21 tackles.

Back once more: Moritz Leitner made his first Bundesliga appearance since the 4th April 2015 (for Stuttgart in Wolfsburg). The last time he played for BVB, after two years on loan at Stuttgart, was in May 2013.
