Marcel Schmelzer got straight to the point after the 0:0 draw between BVB and Hertha BSC: “the Berliners are rightly in third place. The draw is fine.”

Thomas Tuchel: “This is a difficult place to come if you want to play offensively and dominantly. This made it extremely difficult for the team who wanted to attack and perform well, but that is not so easy here. In addition, we weren’t well organised and didn’t handle the ball quickly enough in the first half. Things improved in the second half because we made better use of space but at the end of the half we played against ten men in front of the Hertha goal.”

Pal Dardai (Hertha BSC Coach): “We played very tightly. Tactically we delivered a superior performance. We will take the point though against a top team who missed out on the last pass and a goal.”

Julian Weigl: “It was a very difficult game for us. We didn’t break through the defence like we had imagined we would. Hertha defended very well, very quickly and very strongly. In the second half we tried everything again, we made chances but we didn’t finish them. The draw is fine. We can live with the 0:0 draw even if I’m not happy with it.”

Marcel Schmelzer: “At the end of the day we have to be happy with the point. We didn’t play a good game. Hertha has shown us why it is third in the table. Hertha defended really well in an intensive game. Perhaps we made it too easy for them because we weren’t as good physically.”
