DFB Cup
Will Borussia record a tenth consecutive away victory in the cup?
With Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart set to square off for the fifth time in the DFB Cup, we present you with the facts on Tuesday's quarter-final clash at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena.
- There have previously been four clashes between the VfB and BVB first teams, and the home team has won on each occasion: the Swabians twice (most recently 1998) and the Westphalians twice (most recently 1989). In addition, BVB have twice faced the VfB Stuttgart amateur team, recording two away victories.
- It is VfB Stuttgart's first quarter-final appearance since 2012/13, when they beat VfL Bochum 2-0. In that season the Swabians reached the final, where they were defeated 3-2 by FC Bayern.
- BVB, on the other hand, have not failed to get past the last eight since that same 2012/2013 season - they lost 1-0 to eventual winners Bayern Munich.
- It is Borussia's 16th appearance in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup overall, and their fifth in a row. Twelve of their previous 15 quarter-finals have ended in victory for the Black and Yellows.
- Borussia Dortmund have emerged victorious in every single one of their last nine away matches in this competition.
