"I had butterflies in my stomach", said Neven Subotic after the match against Hannover, since it was his first home game this season. Subotic’s pleasure at making his return wasn’t the only thing BVB got to celebrate, even if, as Thomas Tuchel remarked on sky, "our performance left a lot to be desired". Henrikh Mkhitaryan also gave his opinion on his goal. The first set of reactions after the game are presented here.

Thomas Tuchel: "It often seems to be easier than it really is. That wasn’t the case today. It looked really laboured, and it was. We started well and had a few excellent chances in the first 20 minutes that we didn’t put away. After that it got tougher and tougher. Overall, there was real room for improvement, but we’re happy to take the three points today."

Neven Subotic: "I had a few butterflies in my stomach because it was my first home game of the season. It was like moving back into an old apartment; everything is familiar and you feel good there. I thought overall the victory was thoroughly deserved. We reacted well in the second half and found answers."

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: "My goal was a good one. I received the ball from Marco Reus and wanted to play a one-two with him. But then I saw that he was being marked, and I cut inside myself. I was aiming for the far-post with my shot, and luckily, I pulled it off."

"Every mistake gets punished at BVB"

Thomas Schaaf (Manager of Hannover 96): "I thought we put in a good performance, played with discipline and helped ourselves by doing so. We certainly didn’t have that many chances, but there were some. If we had approached the game with more self-confidence, then we could have hurt Dortmund. However, we let our guard down once at the back, and conceded the goal."

Andre Hoffmann (Player for Hannover 96): "We were attacking prior to conceding the goal, but we didn’t get back quick enough, and BVB are always so quick on the counter. Dortmund will always punish the smallest error, which is exactly what you saw today." (djg)
