Thomas Tuchel can breathe a sigh of relief after climbing to 51 points in the table: "We were totally prepared for such an intensive game", he said after the 1-0 victory in Leverkusen.

Thomas Tuchel on the first 45 minutes of the game:

I thought we were very concentrated in the first half, as well as focused and strong in the tackle, good in aerial duels and, overall, we were prepared for such a demanding game. Our possession level could have been better in the first half, though. The formation in which we wanted to build up our attacks didn’t work particularly well. We hit lots of long balls, certainly as a consequence of Leverkusen’s style of play.

... on the second half:

We created more space and dominated the game. In doing so, we were able to absorb Leverkusen’s pace and went into the lead deservedly.

... on the ten minute interruption to the game:

The interruption was complicated and benefitted Leverkusen. They were energised by a perceived injustice in an emotionally charged stadium. We also knew that we would have chances if we defended well. It was almost careless the way in which we passed up the opportunity to take the score to 2-0 in the 87minute, and that made for a tense final few minutes, but we got over the line with that bit of luck you need. It was never a certainty, as we were playing off the back of many games.
