Borussia Dortmund have progressed three times in European competition after drawing 1-1 in the first leg – but only when this result came in the away fixture. Having drawn 1-1 against Liverpool at Signal Iduna Park, BVB therefore need a first to progress in the return leg next Thursday.

Slightly superior: Borussia Dortmund had 16 shots to LFC's 13 and 59% possession. With 638, they had almost twice as many passes as Liverpool (348), of which 91% were successfully completed (Liverpool: 82%).

Goalscorer: Mats Hummels scored his fourth European goal on his 49th appearance. The last came three years ago, when he scored on 13 February 2013 in a 2-2 draw away to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Trigger-happy: The Black and Yellows have had by far the most shots of all the teams competing in the UEFA Europa League this season (197).

First leg: It was the seventh time BVB have drawn 1-1 in the first leg of a European tie. On three occasions this was the result away from home and they then progressed to the next round at home. Three times a 1-1 draw in the first leg at home was not enough to progress, meaning the Black and Yellows need a first next week.

Draw kings: Liverpool have now drawn seven of their 11 games in the current Europa League campaign. (br)
