Goals are guaranteed when Borussia Dortmund meet Hamburger SV. The BVB fans have celebrated 168 and the Hamburg fans have been able to raise their arms into the sky on 177 occasions. BVB v HSV is the fixture where the most goals have been scored in Bundesliga history, there has never been a 0-0 in Dortmund.

Kick-off: the match kicks off at 15:30hrs in the sold out Signal Iduna Park on Sunday

Situation: second v tenth. HSV is not mathematically safe from relegation yet, but realistically they look like they will survive. They have not lost any of their last four matches against BVB (three wins, one draw) – there is no other current Bundesliga club against whom the ‘Dyno’ has not lost to for a longer period of time.

Home/away: Borussia has won nine out of their last ten home games and they have been unbeaten at the Signal Iduna Park for the last 18 matches this season (16 wins). The last defeat at home was against Munich (0-1) on the 4.April 2015. Even though they have only won one of their last six away games (in Hannover), Hamburg has now already won more points away from home (18) than in the whole of last season (12).

Personnel: apart from Subotic (thrombosis in the arm), all players should be available for selection. It is expected that there will be a degree of rotation between the Liverpool (Europa League quarter final) and Berlin (DFB Cup semi-final) games. Jung (back), Hunt (knee), Drmic (damaged cartilage) and Olic (torn fascia) are missing for HSV.

Record: BVB has lost five of the last seven matches against HSV. This fixture has seen the most goals in Bundesliga history – there have been 345 goals in 97 matches, there were 36 goals in the last nine matches alone, which works out at four goals a game. Hamburg has lost five times away to Dortmund in the last seven years, which is a record for them. There has been a penalty 37 times when these two teams have met – there have only been more penalties in the matches involving Kaiserslautern v Frankfurt (38).

Statistic: Borussia Dortmund has been unbeaten for four months (12 games). No team has scored more goals (69). BVB has not scored in only two games and has scored three or more goals in 14 games (best record in the league). Hamburger SV has lost three of their last four games, however they have 34 points, which is nine points more than the season before.

Highest win at home: on match day 32 of season 1966/67 Lothar Emmerich, Wosab (two goals each), Paul, Peehs and Cyliax all scored to lead BVB to a 7-0 victory. This defeat on the 20.May 1967 was the heaviest defeat in Bundesliga history for HSV coupled with a 2-9 defeat in Munich.

Spectators: Der SIGNAL IDUNA PARK is sold out with 81359 spectators. HSV will be bringing 8000 fans with them.

Referee: Marco Fritz. The 38 year old is from Korb in Württemberg and his assistants are Dominik Schaal and Marcel Pelgrim. The Fourth Official is Benjamin Brand. BVB has lost five of the last six games when Marco Fritz was the referee in a Bundesliga match: the last time Marco Fritz was in charge was for a goalless draw in Berlin. Before that there were five wins and a draw. Summary by Boris Rupert
