There were numerous guests present in addition to the representatives of  both clubs - Hans-Joachim Watzke and Marcel Schmelzer for Borussia Dortmund and Paul Breitner for FC Bayern Munich - for the "Cup-Handover" in the Berlin Town Hall, something that has already become quite a tradition.

Apart from DFB President Reinhard Grindel, the current Mayor Michael Müller, Senator Frank Henkel and DFB Vice-president Peter Frymuth were present.

The former Wolfsburg and Munich international Tobias Rau, who now works as a biologist and PE teacher, handed over the trophy from the current Cup holders VfL Wolfsburg to Berlin's reigning Mayor Michael Müller.

Borussia Dortmund want to bring the Cup home for the fourth time after the final. BVB defender Marcel Schmelzer stated: "we got the taste for taking every game very seriously in 2012 to get to Berlin. Now the strongest opponent will be waiting for us, that is what you work for all year long. We are having an excellent season. We wanted to get our just rewards in the Europa League, but that didn't work out. Now we have another chance in the Cup."
