Marcel Schmelzer has already been in the DFB Cup Final with BVB in 2012, 2014 and 2015. However the Final in Berlin in 2016 is also "something special" for the 28 year old.

Herr Schmelzer, what are you aims when you go into this Final against Bayern?
Marcel Schmelzer: „we definitely wanted to get to the Final again. The Final in Berlin is always something special for every footballer. The tension alone is different: you know whether it is a Bundesliga game or if it is the Cup Final. Of course we intend to be successful against Bayern and to then fly home to Dortmund with the Cup on Sunday."

Are Bayern not better player for player and are they not the favourite because of this?

Schmelzer: „that does not matter. The good thing in a Final is that it does not matter how the teams line-up player for player. It is more important that we work together as a club. We know that it is possible to also beat the best team in Germany in this Final, in this game. Do for me it is not important who maybe has the better players in their squad. We can beat Bayern in this one game. We want to put our plan into action tomorrow over 90 minutes and win the game.

Is Mats Hummels' transfer an issue within the team?

Schmelzer: „no, a few weeks ago it was, but it isn't any more. Mats has made his decision. And for the Final we don't need to worry that he can't blend out the transfer for 90 minutes." (fu)
