Though critical after the 3-3 draw in Ingolstadt, Thomas Tuchel pointed out: "Now we expect A-youth players or those who've only been in the first team for a year to deliver the results everyone demands. Grass won't grow more quickly if you pull on it."

Thomas Tuchel on the match in Ingolstadt:
"I would like to say the following without any judgement: we were not ready for the Bundesliga in the first half. Defensively and offensively, tactically and technically, in terms of intensity and body language, it was not up to standard. When that happens you're punished, that's fine and how it should be. We could have been even further behind."

...on the outcome of the match:
"Of course we then showed our character and quality. The third goal we conceded annoys me the most: at a time when we had managed to pull a goal back and given ourselves a bit of a boost as a result, we had it all to do all over again. Thanks to Ingolstadt dropping off a bit and a bit more quality in our game and more sharpness overall, we were able to get the equaliser and almost turn the game on its head. But we would not have deserved that. It was a fair result in a match that turned out fortunately for us."

...on the current campaign so far:
"If you followed the transfer window and took stock of the players that we sold on and the young talents that we managed to sign, then it's not a hierarchy problem. In addition to the three players that departed from the club, Marco Reus has been out of action since the Cup final and Manni Bender since the Olympics. On the whole there are too many injuries. Now we expect A-youth players or those who've only been in the first team for a year to deliver the results everyone demands. Grass won't grow more quickly if you pull on it. Matthias Ginter and Jule Weigl are playing their part, yet they are still eligible to play at U21 level. We are seeing young players and we quite naturally think that they can play at this level every three days. I am certainly not making an accusation here. Experience cannot be conjured up, you have to collect it. We need to support these players and stay patient. We are always capable of dominating opponents, but it's also normal to go through such spells."
