BVB secured their fourth away win of the season with a comfortable 3-0 victory in Freiburg. Marco Reus was a happy man when he spoke to sky after the match. "We didn't let them get into the game," the midfielder said.

Marco Reus: "Freiburg are extremely strong at home and play good football considering that they were only promoted last summer. But we didn't let them get into the game at all. We played very good football at a high tempo for the whole 90 minutes. That said, we should've been more than 1-0 up at the break. Once we scored the second goal after the break it became easier for us. Auba had one or two huge chances to score in the first half. With a bit more self-confidence he would've scored them. But in the end he was on the scoresheet twice anyway, so things are back to normal."

Roman Bürki: "All in all, that was a very satisfying and positive afternoon. We were very good and dominated for the whole 90 minutes, it was a good performance. I'm happy we managed to keep a clean sheet away from home. Freiburg made it difficult for us to build up steadily from the back. We're ready for the knockout games that now await us. Lotte will be a tough task, there'll be such a euphoric atmosphere in the stadium. But if we're as dominant as we were here in Freiburg, we'll make it into the next round."

Erik Durm: "That wasn't easy, but from the beginning we stuck to the instructions the coach had given us. I can't really recall Freiburg having any clear-cut opportunities to score. We defended superbly, starting from the strikers. We're happy that Auba got back to goalscoring ways. Everything worked out in Freiburg. It's very, very difficult to win 3-0 there, so we're satisfied and can now go into the game in Lotte on a high. We need to get through to the next round, but it will be very, very difficult."

Thomas Tuchel: "We're absolutely delighted with this performance. I'd like to pay the team a real compliment. It was a top display and an enormous step forward. Before the match we were joking on the bench that Auba would need to get a goal from one or two yards, just so things could get back to normal. And that's what happened."

Christian Streich (SCF coach): "That was an extremely disappointing match. The blame lies with me. I didn't make the right changes. I should've deviated from 4-4-2, which I didn't do in the build-up to the game. It was the wrong approach and it allowed Dortmund to dominate as they did."
