Jan-Niklas, you notched up an assist on your professional debut. How satisfied are you with your first game as a professional?
"It was okay, but there's a lot of potential to do better and lots of room for improvement. Both on and off the pitch I always try to learn lots from the other lads and to further my development."

When did you find out you would be in the starting XI and what words did the coach have for you?
"I was still training with the A-Juniors on Wednesday. On Thursday I then linked up with the first team and found out that I would spend the rest of the week training with them. I then found out that I would be starting the match on Friday. I was obviously extremely delighted about the news. The coach told me that I should try to play in the same way I had during the friendly matches in pre-season, especially to show courage going forward. I tried to put what he told me into practice."

"A competitive match is completely different"

What's the difference between a friendly match and a match like this in the DFB Cup? Were you a bit more nervous?
"Certaintly. A competitive match is completely different, just in terms of the atmosphere.“ (djg)
