"We were missing a little something, especially in the box," said André Schürrle to BVBtotal! after the match in Berlin as he explained the reasons for the draw. "We need to look at the first 60 minutes," the striker said, before pointing out the numerous chances created in the final half-hour. "Shame we didn't get anything more from the game," the 27-year-old said.

André, what's your take on the draw in Berlin?
"I think we really struggled for the first 55 minutes. It's very difficult to come back when you go behind directly after the interval. But then the spaces opened up. We showed good movement, and got in behind them. We had a lot of chances and deservedly equalised. It's a shame we didn't get anything more from the game. We need to look at the first 60 minutes. I had the feeling that Berlin did their job very well. They closed down the spaces and were very aggressive in the tackles. We needed a bit of time to get into our rhythm out there. We performed very well in the final 35 minutes."

What were you missing that stopped you from adding a second goal?
"We were missing a little something, especially in the penalty area. Getting that last pass in, getting a foot on it, that's what it was. We got into the box, sent crosses in and had half-chances, but never had a full sight of goal. You need to have a greater presence in the penalty area if you want to get a second or third goal.

"We should've got one win from the two games"

The surface didn't make the task any easier for you, did it?
"Definitely not, I don't think that's even up for discussion. That was a horrible pitch. That of course makes it difficult, being a team that likes to play football. But it was how it was. We accepted that and you could see that we managed to find our way relatively quickly. In the first half we reverted to long balls a bit more often, because we were slightly wary of trying link-up play on that surface. It was difficult, but then we ended up doing it anyway."

You're still unbeaten under Peter Stöger in the Bundesliga. But you must've been hoping for more from the restart?
"Absolutely. We should've got one win from the two games. If you find yourself behind in Berlin, somehow you can live with a 1-1 draw. But especially last week against Wolfsburg, we should've won. For that reason it's annoying. We had the chances, we were in with a good shout in both games. Now we need to continue our work and then the three points will come." (djg)
