Netherlands international Kelly Vollebregt is set to return to the Borussia Dortmund women's handball team ahead of the new season. The right-winger has signed a contract until 2026.

Kelly Vollebregt previously plied her trade for Borussia Dortmund from 2019 to 2021 and helped the club win the German Championship in the 2020/21 season. The 28-year-old left hander is playing for top French club Neptunes de Nantes in the current campaign. Prior to that, the right-winger spent two years on the books of Danish Champions League participant Odense Håndbold.

Head of department Rupert Thiele explained: "We know Kelly and know exactly what we can expect from her. She has now played in the Champions League and thus at the highest sporting level for three years. That will certainly help our team."

Sporting director Andreas Kuno said: "We know that we can count on Kelly. That used to be the case before and it certainly has not changed. We never lost contact with Kelly and I'm therefore delighted that she has decided to join Borussia once again."

"I'm coming back with the objective of competing for titles again – like I already did during my two years in Dortmund," said Kelly Vollebregt, who continued: "That was a special time, in part because it was in the middle of the pandemic and we couldn't do much apart from train and play. There were hardly any spectators in the hall, which was of course a very strange situation. Now I'm really looking forward to playing in front of the Black & Yellow fans."
