Borussia Dortmund may have failed to get the desired result against Stuttgart, but Jürgen Klopp was still not dejected afterwards. On the contrary. He praised his team’s character – and the fans, and regarded the 2-2 draw as a fair result. “We would have taken a 3-2 win but that would have been too much to ask for.”

What is your verdict on the game?

The 2-2 draw is a fair result. My players are stretched to the limit at the moment. Stuttgart did their part and played really well. I was pleased with most parts of the game as I know how hard the lads have to work at the moment.

How did you see the goals BVB lost?

We again made two serious mistakes and then got two goals back. This is the classic case - what we build with our hands, we knock down with our butts. We know that we can always score but the goals we gave away are just ridiculous. For the first goal we appealed for offside, but it probably wasn’t. It’s a fact that play ends when the referee whistles. And he was right to not end it. For the second goal it was one against two in our own penalty area, something I've never experienced in my 209 games at BVB.

How did you experience the final minutes of game?

The crowd helped us. The fans were just amazing. They helped us get back into the game. Our first goal was a great one from Auba, then we made it 2-2 and almost scored the winner in stoppage time. We would have taken a 3-2 win but that would have been too much to ask for. As we scored the last goal in this game, we can feel a bit like winners today.
