Sebastian Kehl was one of the most sought-after players after the 3-0 win over Anderlecht on Wednesday night. In his 50th European game, the former BVB skipper put in a fine performance after returning from a groin injury, bringing balance and stability to the team.

Sebastian, what’s your verdict on the game against Anderlecht?

It was important to show a response after the defeat in the derby. We did a lot of things well against Anderlecht. But we shouldn’t talk too much about it. Now we have to back this victory up with three points in the Bundesliga. A 3-0 win is a good result because we know now that we still have it in us to win games. But now our focus should be on the game against Hamburg on Saturday.

You received some treatment after a tackle from Youri Tielemans. How’s your foot?

The foot has swollen up a bit. The problem with periods of three games a week is that you only have two or three days to get an injury under control. Hopefully it will not swell up too much and I can be available for selection on Saturday. That is all I can say at the moment.

How do you assess BVB’s situation in the Champions League?

We had two great games in which we showed our true colours. We have put ourselves in the driving seat and can take a bit step forward in the next game in Istanbul. We are pleased to be in this position. But as I said, first we have to focus on the Bundesliga.
