Roman Weidenfeller kept a clean sheet in this 50th European game to help Borussia Dortmund set two club records in the Champions League. BVB have not conceded for 394 minutes in Europe’s elite club competition, and for the first time ever they have started the campaign with nine points and a goal difference of +9.

Clean sheet: For the first time, Borussia Dortmund have kept a clean sheet for the fourth match in a row in the Champions League, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s 57th minute goal in the first-leg quarter final against Real Madrid on 2 April 2014 the last goal they conceded. Since then, they have a kept a clean against Real (2-0) in the second leg as well as in the three group matches of this season against Arsenal (2-0), RSC Anderlecht (3-0) and Galatasaray (4-0), meaning they have gone now 394 minutes without conceding.

Clean sheet II: Wednesday’s match was BVB’s third in Istanbul, and for the third time (4-0, 1-0, 0-0) they have kept a clean sheet.

Solid: Along with Monaco, BVB are the only side who have yet to concede in this year’s Champions League campaign.

Strong away form: Borussia Dortmund have only lost one (2-1 defeat at Napoli) of their last eight group matches on the road, winning five and drawing two.

Biggest away win: The 4-0 victory at Galatasaray was the biggest away win for BVB in Europe, eclipsing their previous best of 4-1 at Ajax in November 2012.

Full-back: Sokratis played as left-back for the first time since 20 April 2013 when he lost 3-0 to Wolfsburg while playing for Werder Bremen. In his left-back debut for BVB, the Greek now celebrated a 3-0 win.

Winless run: Galatasaray have only won one of their last seven matches against German opposition, losing three and drawing four. Their home record against German teams is two wins, eight draws and three defeats. The last home win over a side from the Bundesliga was a 1-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt in the second round of the 1992/93 UEFA Cup campaign.

Debut: Yasin Öztekin, a native Dortmunder, came off the bench against BVB to make his UEFA Champions League debut. For BVB, he made one appearance in the Bundesliga.
