Borussia Dortmund have finally taken their points tally for the season into double figures. The players admitted to feeling relieved after the 1-0 win over Mönchengladbach. “It was a sensational game. Everything worked out well,” said for example Erik Durm.

Erik Durm: “It was like a weight was lifted off our shoulders. It was a sensational game. Everything worked out well. Last week was already a step forward, this game against Gladbach was another one. We created great chances and put a lot of pressure on the opposition, and that was crucial. And I don’t care that the only goal was an own goal. We are delighted about the three points.”

Matthias Ginter: “We created an unbelievable amount of chances in the first half. The second half was more open. We were lucky with the goal, and I feel sorry for Christoph as I know how it feels to score an own goal. But, of course, we are still happy as we really wanted the three points. It was a well-deserved win.”

Shinji Kagawa: “We saw today how difficult it is to win in the Bundesliga. The support of the fans was just great. We started the game very focused. We know that if we work together and support each other the wins will start to come. We need to get more stability, play our football and keep going.”

Sebastian Kehl: “We were under  lot of pressure due to our position in the table. But we coped with it well, exerted pressure ourselves early on and played some fine football. The win has taken a huge amount of weight off our shoulders. I feel sympathy for Christoph Kramer. The moment he scored the own goal I felt sorry for him, but more important of course was our victory.”

The BVB players show their relief at the final whistle against Gladbach.

Jürgen Klopp: “We have finally got into double figures in terms of points. If today’s match turns out to kick-start our season, then I'll take it. In this situation the team played an extraordinary game. We wasted a hatful of chances, and then this crazy goal went in. Christoph Kramer inadvertently now has a place in our history. He is an exceptional player and this goal will remain only a small side note as a curiosity in his career.”

Lucien Favre (Mönchengladbach coach): “It was a deserved win for Dortmund. They were better than us and put us under a lot of pressure. We were lucky to go into half-time at 0-0. The goal came at an unfortunate time as Dortmund were no longer creating clear chances.”

Christoph Kramer: “Dortmund went into the game well prepared and kept us away from goal. We never really posed a threat. Dortmund are an unbelievably strong team. I don’t know if that kind of own goal has ever been scored before. I played really poorly today, and that annoys me much more. Dortmund have to thank me, and I have to apologize to Gladbach.”
