Borussia Dortmund are holding a nine-game unbeaten run against VfB Stuttgart, winning four and drawing five. The last defeat against the Swabian outfit dates back to 31 January 2010 when the Black and Yellows lost 4-1 in Stuttgart. The first game this season ended in a 2-2 draw.

BVB have a good recent record away at Stuttgart

BVB are on a four-game unbeaten run away to VfB (three wins, one draw). Last season, Borussia managed to come back from behind to win in Stuttgart for the very first time, turning a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 win.

Marco Reus a real threat for VfB

Marco Reus might be particularly looking forward to Friday’s match as he has been involved in seven of the last 11 goals against Stuttgart! The only Dortmund player with a losing record against VfB is Matthias Ginter, who lost three matches against them in a Freiburg shirt.

Few goals, few home wins

Stuttgart have only scored once in their last five games (in a 2-1 defeat at Hoffenheim). They are looking to rediscover their home form of previous seasons after failing to win any of their last seven games at their ground. The last time they had such a poor run was five years ago in December 2009 under Markus Babbel. Their last home win dates back to 27 September 2014, a 1-0 victory over Hannover 96.

BVB have improved on the road

That said, BVB’s away form is not that good looking, either. This season, the Black and Yellows have only won their first (at Augsburg) and their last (at Freiburg) match on the road this season, but they have  have managed to keep a clean sheet in both of their away games in the Bundesliga this year.
