Roman Weidenfeller is talking about a holiday: the Borussia Dortmund team set off  for Piemont on Monday lunchtime with high hopes. On Tuesday evening BVB play the first leg of their last 16 tie against Juventus in the UEFA Champions League.

“We're not going there as favourites”, explained coach Jürgen Klopp, “but we'll give it everything we've got. We want to get a good result.” Despite Juventus' impressive home record and clear lead at the top of Serie A, BVB chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke is expecting “an open game”. Former Juventus coach Marcello Lippi told kicker magazine: “This BVB team frightens me.”

And perhaps not without reason. “We've been able to restore some self-belief”, said Ilkay Gündogan after three successive league wins accompanied by some dominant performances.

The team are due to land at the Aeroporto di Torino-Caselle, 15 kilometres north of Turin's stadium, at 3.20 p.m. Their final training session at the Juventus Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
