The 28th attempt on goal was finally rewarded with the opening goal in the 146th renewal of the Revierderby with Schalke 04. By the end of the game BVB had racked up no less than 31 shots on goal (by far the best of the season so far and a derby record to boot). The win was the 50th for the Black n Yellows over the Royal Blues.

Winning run: Borussia Dortmund stretched their winning run to four games, which is the same number of victories they recorded in the entire first half of the season.

Fireworks: BVB chalked up more shots on goal (31) than in any previous Bundesliga derby since records began in 1992. The 31-shot total equals Bayern’s effort against Freiburg earlier this season.

A negative record: Schalke managed just three shots on goal; less than ever before since records of such things began in 1992.

Unemployed: Roman Weidenfeller only touched the ball eleven times and did not have to make even one save.

Unstoppable: Marco Reus was involved in 15 attempts on goal alone! Eight efforts himself, and setting up a further seven - another season record for the Bundesliga.

He just keeps scoring: Marco Reus scored for the fifth competitive game in a row; something he had never before achieved in his professional career.

On a roll: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored for the fourth Bundesliga game in a row, something that he had never before achieved.

At last!: Henrikh Mkhitaryan finally scored his first goal with his 45th shot on goal this season.
