The first diagnosis by team doctor Dr.Markus Braun has fortunately been confirmed. Marco Reus 'only' suffered some painful bruising above his knee in the match against Dynamo Dresden. There is no risk that he will be out for a longer spell.

The 25 year old international is being treated intensively by the medical department. They are making sure that the bruise develops further within the thigh muscle. Head coach Jürgen Klopp is worried that he will be without this important player at least for the away game against HSV on Saturday.

Just as irritating as the injury to Reus is, Sporting Director Michael Zorc is equally annoyed about Dresden's defender Dennis Erdmann's comments, who committed the momentous foul: 'he ran into my knee, that's how he got the bruise. I used to play in the local league, there you would just have a look, give it a rub and then play on. But I think that isn't the case anymore in the Bundesliga business.'

Such a comment puts Zorc into a rage, especially as the ball was nowhere near when it happened: 'unfortunately it is not the first injury this season that Marco Reus has suffered where someone else has been involved. Our creative players just need to have better protection! The comments made by the Dresden player Dennis Erdmann are outrageous. Players who talk and act like that should not be on the pitch. Not even on a pitch in the local leagues.' (br)
