Borussia Dortmund have won the second of their two friendly matches on the Asia Tour, recording a 6-1 (3-1) victory over Johor Southern Tigers - who won last year's Malaysian title and currently occupy second place in the league - thanks to goals from Gündogan, Aubameyang, Kampl, Kagawa, Dudziak and Reus.

Coach Thomas Tuchel stuck to the same tactic as the previous three pre-season friendly matches by fielding two completely different teams for each half of the game, both operating in a 4-1-4-1 formation. Borussia Dortmund initially lacked the tempo and precision that proved so effective in Tuesday's encounter, but their slow start could partly be attributed to the fact that the team had the first of four training sessions scheduled for their stay in Malaysia on the morning of the match.

Borussia Dortmund's first chance and goal came from a curling Ilkay Gündogan free-kick from 21 metres out, an unstoppable shot which flew over the wall and into the back of the net (22). Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then squandered two gilt-edged chances rather uncharacteristically, first missing the target with a header from a pinpoint Marcel Schmelzer cross (27) and then shooting wide of goal from 12 metres following Mkhitaryan's build-up play (28). However it was third time lucky for the Gabon international, who latched onto Schmelzer's hard and low cross into the penalty area to double the visitors' lead (29). Minutes later the Tigers' keeper dropped a Gündogan cross at the feet of Kevin Kampl, who prodded the ball home (32).

But a beautifully created and converted goal from the hosts soon reduced the deficit to 3-1 and sent the home crowd into raptures (40). It was Gary Steven Robbat, a player who trained with BVB's U23 side some six months ago, who found the net with a volley. The two clubs have a cooperation together at youth level, and Robbat's goal is testament to its success...

A first half played in temperatures of 35 degrees and on a rather unusual bamboo grass surface came to an end after Kevin Kampl's fine solo run was stopped and cleared away for a corner kick at the very last minute.

Kagawa and Stenzel came close after the interval, the former hitting the crossbar (58) and the latter hitting a powerful 17-metre shot (71). Reus then played a dream pass towards the left of the penalty area which Maruoka played back across goal to Kagawa, who curled the ball into the corner to make it 4-1 (74). Dudziak scored goal number five with a wonderful solo effort eight minutes from time before Reus hit number six in the final minute after playing a one-two with Kagawa.
