Borussias U19s played another blinder in the Bundesliga West and outclassed the favourites Bayer Leverkusen 5-1 in the Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion.

“It was completely unexpected – both before the match and even at half time. However, it was amazing, that the lads did it again,” manager Hannes Wolf rejoiced after the transfer/change/substitution about his teams almost perfect performance, who were without the injured Midfield strategist Dzemir Burnic (severe bruised foot). BVB, who have yet to lose a point after four games, upped their goal difference to 18 with 21 goals scored and only 3 conceded!

Initially, Dortmund didn’t have an answer for Leverkusen’s aggressive style of play. As a result, the hosts, managed by ex BVB manager Peter Hyballa, went ahead after 15 minutes. Wolf said: “We had problems defending against Bayer and didn’t really get into the game as we’d hoped.” Felix Passlack began to turn the match around. The midfielder, who turned 17 in May, equalised in the 42nd minute with a stunning goal to make it 1-1, Jakob Bruun Larsen then managed to make it 2-1 before the half time whistle.

Bayer couldn’t recover from Dortmund’s brace and Borussias attack, powered by Felix Passlack, really came into their own. Janni-Luca Serra made it 3-1 (49.) and the game was decided after the sending-off of Leverkusen’s’ Tristan Duschke (69.).Felix Passlack scored again (71.) and the substitute Berkant Güner (75.) set the unexpected result against one of the favourites to win the title in stone.

A few of the players from this enormously talented team go back to their professional training squads for the international break and will have the chance to push themselves to a “higher level” in the friendly match against FC St. Pauli. “They have already proved that they are exceptionally talented. The next step will inevitably follow”, said Wolf.

On Sunday 13th September at 11:00am (CET) the highly anticipated Revier Derby will take place at the training ground in Brackel against the German Champions Schalke 04, who suffered their first loss of points when they drew 1-1 against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
