Borussia Dortmund’s U19 team remains undefeated in the Bundesliga West, but after a 0-0 draw in a top clash against FC Schalke 04, they lost their table-topping status to Vfl Bochum, celebrating its fifth win of the season with victory over Fortuna Köln.

BVB were dominant in the derby, played out in front of a huge crowd at the Dortmund Brackel training ground, yet were unable to overcome the well organised defence of their opponents. “Schalke are back to their best and made life very difficult for us in an intense match. But we can actually play better football,” was manager Hannes Wolf’s judgement, who was able to take some positives; “We can be very satisfied with 13 points from a tricky start to the season including matches against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke 04”.

Next Sunday his “highly gifted team” will play at SC Preußen Münster.
