The winter training camp is over now. A grey sky and cold and wet weather with temperatures of 2 degrees welcomed the pros and the Borussia Dortmund coaching staff, when the Airbus 389-800 landed in Dusseldorf airport.

Thomas Tuchel's coaching staff asked the Borussia Dortmund players to come on to the the well manicured NAS Sports Complex pitch ten times in the past few weeks. They completed more than 900 minutes of intensive training, an additional 180 minutes of friendly matches against Eintracht Frankfurt (4-0) and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (4-1), as well as many media conferences and interviews between the start of the training camp on the 7.January and landing back at Dusseldorf airport early on Saturday afternoon.

We will see whether the training camp in Dubai was worth it for BVB in the forthcoming weeks with competitive matches coming one after the other. However it has been confirmed that they could not have prepared better for a second half of the Bundesliga season and also for the UEFA Europa League and DFB Cup. Head Coach Thomas Tuchel has positive comments to make on this: "I am very satisfied, because we worked very hard and we worked very intensively in the last two weeks."

After the strenuous days in summery temperatures, the players can now look forward to some free time at home. The next training session will not be until next Monday afternoon at the ADI-Preißler-Allee. However the short preparation time goes into its final phase on Tuesday: BVB play Sparta Prag in their last friendly at 19:05 in the Essen stadium - the match will be streamed live on BVB total!

Then it will get serious on Saturday, when the first Bundesliga opponent for the top match of the day at 18:30hrs will be Borussia Mönchengladbach. (pf)
